Vocal Requirements
Elementary Level (Age 12 and under, winner does not proceed to State Competition):
Junior Level (Age 12 and under):
Intermediate Level (Ages 13 – 15):
Senior Level (Ages 16 – 18):
- A memorized program of two songs, contrasting styles is required. Duration must not exceed 6 minutes. Repertoire may be selected from age appropriate folk songs and classical style works.
Junior Level (Age 12 and under):
- A memorized program of two songs, contrasting styles is required. Duration must not exceed 8 minutes. Repertoire may be selected from age appropriate folk songs and classical style works.
Intermediate Level (Ages 13 – 15):
- A memorized program of three songs, contrasting styles is required. Duration must not exceed 10 minutes. Repertoire may be selected from age appropriate folk songs and classical style works. An age appropriate, legitimate musical theatre piece may be performed as one of the audition selections. “Belt” style singing, rock musical theatre, and pop repertoire is not permitted.
Senior Level (Ages 16 – 18):
- A memorized program of three songs from different musical periods, in three languages (English included), is required. Duration must not exceed 15 minutes. A legitimate, musical theatre piece may be performed as one of the audition selections. However, all audition selections must be classical in style. “Belt” style singing, rock musical theatre, and pop repertoire is not permitted. Senior Level entrants need orchestral accompaniment for one classical selection.
