Types of Membership

ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP shall be open upon application to any person who is, or has been, professionally engaged in the teaching of music.
  • Active membership shall provide privileges of participation in the activities of the Association, the right to vote and to hold office.
  • Any teacher moving to Florida who holds membership in good standing in another state affiliate of MTNA will be granted Active membership in FSMTA.
  • The rights and privileges of active membership will apply equally to all active members of FSMTA, regardless of place of residence.
COLLEGIATE MEMBERSHIP shall be open to all college music students.
  • Collegiate membership shall provide privileges of participation in the activities of the Association except the right to vote, hold office or enter students in MTNA competitions.
  • Upon graduation from college, MTNA student members may upgrade to Active membership status and receive a 50% reduction in national and state dues for a period of one year. MTNA student members wishing to take advantage of this opportunity may contact Melissa Curtice at MTNA at (513) 421-1420, ext. 237.
RETIRED MEMBERSHIP shall be open upon application to those 65 years of age or older who have been members of FSMTA and MTNA for twenty (20) consecutive years prior to making application and who are not teaching.
  • A member must send written notice to the MTNA executive director for this class of membership to be activated.
  • Retired membership shall provide the privileges of Active members except the right to hold elected office in the Association.
  • Retired members who resume teaching shall return to active status the following membership year.
  • Retired members qualify for a 75% reduction in dues.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP shall be open upon application to those who are not professionally engaged in teaching music but wish to support the programs of the Association.
  • Associate membership shall provide all the privileges of Active membership except the right to vote or to hold state office.
  • No one actively engaged in teaching music in the State of Florida shall be admitted to Associate Membership.

The membership year runs July 1 to June 30.​
MTNA Dues:
  • $97.00 - Active
  • $48.50 - New first-time member (Jan. 1 - Mar. 31)
  • $72.75 - Senior (70 years or older)
  • $30.50 - New first-time senior (Jan. 1 - Mar. 31)
  • $45.50 - Retired member
  • $19.00 - Collegiate
FSMTA Dues:
  • $45.00- Active
  • $45.00 - Associate
  • $22.50 - New first-time member (Jan. 1 - Mar. 31)
  • $33.75 - Senior 1 (age 70-79)
  • $17.00 - New first-time Senior 1 (Jan. 1 - Mar. 31)
  • $22.50 - Senior 2 (age 80 or older)
  • $11.25 - New first-time Senior 2 (Jan. 1 - Mar. 31)
  • ​$11.25 - Retired member
  • $10.00 - Collegiate
