Master Class Clinician

​Irish pianist Peter Mack is a performer, clinician, convention artist, adjudicator, and teacher.  Celebrated for his moving playing, and his easy rapport with audiences, he has performed throughout the USA and Europe, as well as in Australia, India, China, and the former Soviet Union.  He is the winner of the New Orleans, Young Keyboard Artists, and Pacific International Piano Competitions. His prize in the Sherman-Clay competition included a Steinway grand piano.  Naturally, he is a Steinway artist.  
​
Peter Mack is well known for his extensive repertoire, having performed twenty-six concertos with orchestras.  A choral scholar at Trinity College Dublin, and a fellow of Trinity College London, he has a doctorate from the University of Washington.  His principal teachers were Frank Heneghan, and Bela Siki.
Dr, Mack is the proud teacher of twenty-four MTNA national finalists, and five MTNA national first-place winners.  He was president of MTNA from 2023-2025.

​ Daniel Penaherrera was born in Warsaw, Indiana and started his piano studies with Ms. Paula Popenfoose at age 6. After moving to Fort Wayne, Indiana, he continued piano lessons with Mr. Evan Keenan. At age of 11, Daniel moved to Florida and continued his piano studies with Ms. Kamila Shahtakhtinski. Daniel is a Senior at DASOTA /Jacksonville/ with specialty in piano and electronic music composition. Some of his achievements and awards in piano performance include 2022 and 2025 NFMC Festival Gold Cups, 2024 Winner of DASOTA Sonata Marathon (Junior), Winner of VD-II Piano Solo at 2025 FFMC State Junior Convention, Honorable Mention at 2025 FSMTA Hebda Senior Piano Solo Competition. In addition to Daniel's piano academic studies, he has been composing electronic music using Ableton and other resources. As a piano composer, Daniel recently won a Second Place in the 2025 RHFA International Music Competition.

​ Izel Gómez-Calderón started playing the piano at the age of two by discovering lullabies, melodies he sang with his mother. By the age of four he started taking formal lessons with M.M Ludmila Melzer. When he was 7 years old, he also started receiving piano lessons with Dr. Alexander Sklioutovsky. Izel started participating at international competitions at the age of 4 and has won several ones. He moved to the USA in 2022 and receives piano lessons with his mentor Dr. Yun-Ling Hsu since March of 2023. He has participated in local and state competitions since then and has won 2024 NFMC Florida State Piano Concerto Winner (Jr III-B) and Vi Kinsman Memorial Endowed Award. Izel got the Alternate Winner of 2024 MTNA Florida State Junior Piano Performance. Izel enjoys reading, watching movies, cooking and playing outdoors.

​Hanting Peng, male, 19 years old, born in Shanghai, China. Hanting Peng studied piano at 5 years old. In 2014, he entered Shanghai Conservatory affiliated middle school. In 2024, he entered Lynn University. Now he is a first-year undergraduate student in Lynn University.

Nicholas DuVal is a piano performance and pedagogy student at the University of North Florida, where he studies piano with Dr. Gary Smart and pedagogy with Dr. Erin Bennett. Nicholas is in the final year of his undergraduate degree and has experience with teaching students of all ages in a private setting as well as occasionally assisting with group piano at UNF. Nicholas became an active member of MTNA early in his degree and is particularly interested in andragogy.
