Rachel
Cramer - 2011 Local Presidents - FSMTA Community Service
Award Winner
The 2011 Local Presidents-FSMTA Community Service Award
Winner and the Sarasota County Winner is Rachael Cramer.
Rachael is a piano student of Marian Cox, who is a
member of the Sarasota Music Teachers Association (SMTA)
in District VIII. Rachael attended St. Martha School for
seventh and eighth grades and for ninth grade attended
Riverview High School.
Rachael began her piano
lessons at the age of four and has had continual lessons
with Mrs. Cox. In addition to playing piano she has also
studied voice and violin. She stays very busy performing
as a soloist and in ensembles in piano, voice, and
violin. She participates within her school and church
choirs and orchestras as well as serving as a cantor in
her church. In Rachaels words I am generally a quiet
person but my music has connected me with so many people
I might never have known. Music has helped me to grow in
confidence; it has taught me to be disciplined and hard
working. I believe as long as I am sharing music with
fellow musicians and/or with an audience, I am rewarded
beyond my expectations. Music is in my heart.
The list of musical
contributions to her community is enormous. She listed
143.5 hours that she has participated in sharing her
music in church, community, and school.
Rachael has been the
recipient of numerous awards such as: District and State
Student Day, Volunteer Award in Music at St. Martha
School Church, SMTA Essay, Junior Festival in Vocal Art
Song and Violin Performance, Musical Theater, and Piano
Compositions for SMTA.
The members of the
Florida State Music Teachers Association are honored to
send our congratulations to Rachael Cramer. As an
association it is a pleasure to have a young woman of
her excellence to be the representative of what
community service truly means.
