The King
College Music Education Scholarship Award
This award is given to a
student pursuing a degree in Music Education and in need
of financial assistance.
Student eligibility:
Applicant may be any student with documented need of
financial assistance who is completing sophomore year or
beyond pursuing a college degree in Music Education, and
who will be studying during the next term in a Florida
college or university. Student does not need to be a
Florida resident.
Application process -
Student must complete - Application including info on
year in college, principal instrument, name of college
they will attend during the next term, name of teacher
recommending them, college associations
affiliation-presentations made
A written essay
incorporating the following topics - What excites them
about music education, Why they chose a music education
degree, Plans after music education degree completion
and any special financial considerations
Student must provide –
Letter of recommendation from an active FSMTA teacher
with whom they study - Letter of financial need from
their college or university (for verification only)
Student must submit
completed application and letter or recommendation to
the King Scholarship award chairman.
Application deadline -
coincide with State Competitive events day deadline
Selection process – Three
judges appointed by King Scholarship award chairman will
make the selection. None of the judges should be faculty
from a college that has an applicant.
The cash award will be
presented to the winner during the State Competitive
events day awards ceremony. The check will be written to
the institution the winner will be attending during the
next term.
