Senior Piano Duet Winner
Paul Wright is
a 17-year-old freshman at Florida Gulf Coast University majoring in
piano performance. He began playing the piano under his father’s
instruction at the age of five. Paul has been studying piano with Dr.
Michael Baron since 2006.
Paul was the Music
Teachers National Association Junior Division Piano Competition winner
for the state of Colorado in 2006 and 2007. He was the Senior Division
winner of the 2009 MTNA Senior Piano Competition for the state of
Colorado. Paul was also a finalist in the 2010 MTNA Senior Piano Duet
National Competition.
In the Colorado State
Music Teachers Association Concerto Competition, Paul was the Junior
winner in 2008 and the winner of the Senior Division in 2009. He
performed with the Timberline Symphony in February 2008, and again in
February 2009.
Paul was also the
winner of the 2008 Pikes Peak Philharmonic Concerto Competition, and
performed with them in May 2008.
Most recently, Paul
won the 2010 Wells Music Yamaha Piano Competition and performed with the
Breckenridge Music Festival in August 2010.
Other past
achievements include winning the Front Range Music Teachers Association
competitions 2002 through 2004, and Pikes Peak Music Teachers
Association competitions 2003 through 2008, as well as winning numerous
awards in the Yamaha Piano Competition.
