Young Artist Student Composition: Winner

Sarah Zipperer Gaskins,  a native of Duluth, GA, is a graduate student at Florida State University currently pursuing a Doctor of Music degree in the field of composition. She studied under Mark Kilstofte at Furman University, earning a Bachelor of Music Theory degree. At Florida State, she received a Masters of Music degree in composition while studying under Clifton Callender and Ladislav Kubik.  Most recently, her duet for violin and piano, 8:10 at the Café, was performed at the College Music Society’s 2008 National Conference. Gaskins teaches courses in aural skills and music theory at Florida State and also teaches private violin and viola lessons.
