While waiting to be seven years old to begin piano lessons, Alexandra Dreyfuss, five years old at the time, heard a classmate play the violin for “show and tell," and insisted that she wanted to study violin.
Alexi was born in Hollywood, Florida on July 3rd, 1993. She has attended Hillel Community Day School in North Miami Beach since she was four years old and has achieved a straight "A" average since then. Presently she is a junior in High School and plans to study engineering and music in college.
Alexi has won many first and second place awards at the Florida Federation of Music Clubs state competitions since she was seven in the Violin Solo and Concerto Categories. She has been nominated for the prestigious Irene Muir Award in the Violin Concerto category. In October 2007, Alexi was a finalist in the Ars Flores Young Artist Competition and the New World Symphony Young Artist Competition in January 2008. In March 2008, Alexandra won third place in the Wallenstein Concert Competition. In May of that year, The Florida Federation of Music awarded her a Scholarship Award in the Senior Violin Solo Class for winning first place in the State Competition. In October 2008, Alexi won the MTNA State Senior Violin Competition and this past May she won second place in the Senior Violin Concerto class in the Florida Federation of Music Clubs State Competition. This past October, Alexi won the MTNA State competition in the Senior Strings class.
Alexi has been studying with Mr. Robert Davidovici for the past three years who is the Artist-In-Residence and Professor of Violin at Florida International University in Miami. She shares her love for music by playing violin for the patients at The Jewish Home for the Aged in Miami and The Memorial Hospital East in Hollywood. |
