Representatives
Xueming Fang is an eleventh-grader at
Miami Palmetto Senior High School. She began studying piano age six and
has been studying with Ms. Nightingale Ngo for the past 10 years. She
is one of the pianists at the Chinese Baptist Church of Miami and is a
soprano and accompanist of the sanctuary choir. Music, in any form, is a
big part of Miss Fang’s life. In addition to piano and choir, she plays
handbells in the Joyful Handbell Choir.
In middle school, Miss Fang was a voice
major. During her middle school career, she was admitted into the
All-State choir in Florida and received all Superior markings on her
Solo and Ensemble evaluation. In high school, Miss Fang took choir
during her ninth-grade year and was awarded Freshman Music Vocal Student
of the Year at the end of the year.
Miss Fang’s piano career does not only
entail solo playing but is diversified in accompaniment playing, sight
playing, and ensemble playing. She performed a duet at a celebration of
Vizcaya with her friend and long standing duet partner, Mindy Wang. They
also performed the Stars
and Stripes Forever during
the tour of the six original copies of the Declaration of Independence.
Miss Fang has placed first or second in every ensemble competition that
she has attended including MTNA Scholarship competition and State
Federation competition. Last year, Miss Fang, Miss Wang, and new piano
partner, Joshua Wong, received first place at the FFMC Jr. Convention in
the Piano Trio category.
Miss Fang hopes to continue down a path of
music whether it is for a possible career choice or for the simple joy
and enjoyment of music.
