Young Artist Brass Winner
Jordan Drayer, a junior at the
Florida State University, is pursuing a Bachelors of Arts degree in
Music with a Certificate in Performance as well as a Bachelor of Arts
degree in International Affairs. She started playing French horn in 6th
grade at Rock Lake Middle School in Longwood, Florida where she was
named to the Seminole All-County band during her 7th and and
8th grade years. She also qualified for the All-State Middle
School band during her 8th grade year. Jordan participated in
All-County each of her 4 years at Lake Brantley High School as well as
being named to the Florida All-State Concert Band in her sophomore year
and the Symphonic Orchestra during her junior and senior years. Other
accomplishments included FSU Tri-State 2007, USF Festival of Winds 2008,
“Superior” scores for solo and ensemble competitions 7 straight years
and playing with London Symphony Orchestra as a part of the 2007 AT&T
Youth Ensemble. Jordan was a member of the Florida Symphony Youth
Orchestra between the 8th and 12th grades.
Upon attending FSU, Jordan joined Marching
Chiefs for two seasons. She has been a member of the Symphonic Band for
6 semesters. Academically, Jordan maintained straight A’s from middle to
high school. She was a member of the National Honor Society in high
school and a National Merit Commended Scholar. She has been on the
Dean’s List since her freshman year at FSU and the President’s List
twice. She is a member of Golden Key International Honour Society, Phi
Kappa Phi Honor Society, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, and Sigma Alpha
Iota Professional Music Fraternity.
