Junior Composition Winner
Caitlin Collier is 12 years old and
is in the sixth grade at Jacksonville Country Day School. Caitlin began
playing piano at the age of five. She studies piano and music theory
with her teacher Denise Homsley.
She has participated in the Jacksonville
District Student Day for the past two years and has received District
Student Day Honors in Performance, Written Theory and Aural Theory.
Besides her love of piano, Caitlin has many
other interests. She loves to snowboard, ski and skateboard. She plays
competitive basketball and soccer. She has participated in numerous
soccer tournaments this year and her team has finished first in every
tournament. Most recently, her team placed first at the Seminole Girls
Fall Festival Soccer Tournament in Orlando.
Caitlin looks forward to continuing to
foster her love of piano. She recently took an interest in composing and
entered her first composition competition with her piece entitled
“Spanish Dance”.
