Jason Nong is the MTNA Junior Piano winner for FSMTA and will be representing Florida at Southern Division in January 2009. Jason began playing piano at the age of five and now is a fourteen-year old student in tenth grade at King High School in Tampa. In 2006, he attended the Chautauqua Music Festival in Chautauqua, NY, studying under Rebecca Penneys of the Eastman School of Music. He won the performance award for the Best Chopin Etude in the competition there. In 2007, he won the Grand Prize of the senior division of The Florida Orchestra Young Artists Competition. In 2008, he won Ocala Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition and performed with both the Ocala Symphony Orchestra and The Florida Orchestra. Jason was also the Junior Piano winner of the Florida MTNA Junior Piano competition in 2007. He currently studies with Vladimir Khokhlov.
