Kimberly Fang first began violin with Betsy Wade at the age of 6. Currently, she is a student of Dr. Janna Lower. She is in the International Baccalaureate program at Eastside High School where she is a senior. She has played violin in ACYO since 2003. She has been selected for the Florida All-State Orchestra in 2005, 2007, and 2008. In November 2007, Kimberly was chosen to play with the rock band Sister Hazel at their Gainesville concert. She has played in Gainesville Music Teachers Association Alma Fennell Spring Showcase Recital in 2005 and 2008. In the National Federation of Music Clubs Piano Festival, she has received straight superior ratings in piano solo from 2006-2009, as well as piano performance Honors in 2008 and 2009 at the Florida State Music Teachers Association Student Day. At the Florida State Music Teachers Association 2009 State Concerto Competition, she received second place and was alternate at the Music Teachers National Association Senior competition in 2008 and 2009. Last summer she attended Interlochen's Summer Arts Camp and was placed in the World Youth Symphony Orchestra. Kimberly received Interlochen's Fine Arts Award for violin. While at Interlochen, she played in a master class with the Ahn Trio and also had a lesson with the Cleveland Orchestra concertmaster, William Preucil. She enjoys music and is planning to pursue it in college. Kimberly also plays piano under the teaching of Barbara Young and sings in Eastside High School's Chamber Singers Chorus.
