Intermediate Piano Concerto Competition: 2nd Place

Jason Nong is a fifteen-year-old junior in the International Baccalaureate program at King High School in Tampa. He began playing piano when he was five. In 2006, he attended the Chautauqua Music Festival in Chautauqua, NY, studying under Rebecca Penneys of the Eastman School of Music. He won the performance award for the Best Chopin Etude in the competition there. In 2007, he became the youngest person to win the Grand Prize of the Florida Orchestra Young Artists Competition. In 2008, he won in the junior division of the Ocala Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition and performed with both the Ocala Symphony Orchestra and the Florida Orchestra. Last year, he was a national finalist in the Junior Piano division of the MTNA competition and a semifinalist in the Furman University Daniel Piano Competition. He represented Florida at the MTNA Southern Division competition in January. He currently studies with Vladimir Khokhlov.
