Senior
Strings Concerto Competition: Winner
Queenie Edwards is an active violinist and chamber
musician. Her principal teacher has been Yan Jiang Lu for the last
eleven years. She has won several awards for her performances, including
twice the Florida State Music Teachers’ Association State-wide String
Concerto competition, and was the winner of the 2006 and 2009 Florida
Midstate Music Teachers’ Association competition. In 2008, she earned
2nd place in the Junior Strings Division of the Florida Orchestra Young
Artist Competition. Her most memorable accomplishment was winning the
Imperial Symphony Orchestra competition and performed as a soloist with
the orchestra.
She
has three times been associate concertmistress for the Florida MEA
All-State Orchestra. At the 2010 Florida Federations Music Club Junior
Convention, she won the Violin Solo Performance and was nominated for
the Irene Muir Award. Queenie has been playing music with the Tampa Bay
Patel Conservatory since she was ten years old and currently is the
concertmistress for the Patel Conservatory Youth Orchestra (PCYO). In
2007, the PCYO performed at Carnegie Hall. This past summer, she was
named the 2010 Florida recipient of the Emerson Scholarship from
Interlorchen Arts Camp and performed in the World Youth Symphony
Orchestra with 2-time Grammy Nominated violinist Philippe Quint and
Avery Fisher Prize Awarded clarinetist David Shifrin.
