Senior
Vocal Concerto Competition: 2nd Place
Jackie Stotler
grew up in Manassas, Virginia. She moved to Florida in 2008. Jackie got
started with the Sarasota Youth Opera in her junior year, and since then
has fallen in love with the art form. In 2010, she performed with the
company in their production of Pagliacci and Cavelleria Rusticana. Later
that year, she also performed as a soloist in The Black Spider, a Youth
Opera production. In addition to Youth Opera, she is an active member of
Tri-M, the music honors society, the vice president of River Rhapsody,
the audition chamber choir at her school, a member of National Honors
Society, and tutors kids in science after school on Wednesdays. She’s
also an active member of the leadership group at her school, SGA, and is
a committee leader in the Senior Advisory Board. Her junior year, she
was the supporting lead Amneris in the show Aida, put on by her high
school. Jackie just started her voice lessons September 2010. She also
went to Florida All-State Mixed Choir, and was a featured soloist there,
chosen out of 62 other sopranos. Currently, she is registered to perform
in the Schmidt Vocal Competition, and will be a featured soloist in the
Sarasota Opera’s performances of La Boheme, in house as well as on tour
in Naples, FL. She also teaches a choir at her high school, teaches
handicapped children to play percussion instruments, and gives private
voice lessons for free. Recently, she was awarded an apprenticeship in
the Gloria Musicae choir in Sarasota, FL.
