Senior Vocal Concerto Competition: 2nd Place

Jackie Stotler grew up in Manassas, Virginia. She moved to Florida in 2008. Jackie got started with the Sarasota Youth Opera in her junior year, and since then has fallen in love with the art form. In 2010, she performed with the company in their production of Pagliacci and Cavelleria Rusticana. Later that year, she also performed as a soloist in The Black Spider, a Youth Opera production. In addition to Youth Opera, she is an active member of Tri-M, the music honors society, the vice president of River Rhapsody, the audition chamber choir at her school, a member of National Honors Society, and tutors kids in science after school on Wednesdays. She’s also an active member of the leadership group at her school, SGA, and is a committee leader in the Senior Advisory Board. Her junior year, she was the supporting lead Amneris in the show Aida, put on by her high school. Jackie just started her voice lessons September 2010. She also went to Florida All-State Mixed Choir, and was a featured soloist there, chosen out of 62 other sopranos. Currently, she is registered to perform in the Schmidt Vocal Competition, and will be a featured soloist in the Sarasota Opera’s performances of La Boheme, in house as well as on tour in Naples, FL.   She also teaches a choir at her high school, teaches handicapped children to play percussion instruments, and gives private voice lessons for free.  Recently, she was awarded an apprenticeship in the Gloria Musicae choir in Sarasota, FL.
