Dustin Katzin, Senior Composition winner has been involved with music since he started playing piano at the age of 5. Since then, he has learned to play the clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, and various percussion instruments. He has performed in recitals, concerts, churches, synagogues, and graduation ceremonies.

Dustin started composing at the age of eight. He has completed two serious works

-- in addition to the clarinet piece, he wrote a piece for symphonic band. He conducted this piece in a concert at the end of his senior year of high school.

He is currently working on an orchestral piece, in the style of film music.

Dustin is a freshman at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studies math and physics, as well as music. He is currently a member of the MIT Symphony Orchestra.
