Woodwind Young Artist Winner
Carly Gomez
is currently a sophomore at The Florida State University, studying with
Jeff Keesecker for her BM in bassoon performance. She has been playing
bassoon for 8 years, and has played with all-state ensembles, Brevard
Symphony Youth Orchestra, Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, Central
Florida Winds, and Central Florida Chamber Winds. In 2009 she won the
Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra concerto competition and performed the
Mozart Bassoon Concerto. In 2009, she also attended the AT&T Youth
Institute where she was coached by and performed with the London
Symphony Orchestra. She has attended Brevard Music Center twice as a
high school student and once in the college division, studying with
William Ludwig and Susan Barber. She is currently in a woodwind quintet
at FSU and is the principle bassoonist of FSU’s University Philharmonia
Orchestra.
