Saturday, October 24 ~ 7:30-9 p.m.

Dr. Leonid Yanovskiy, Associate Professor of violin, viola and
orchestra at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, will perform
the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. In 2006-07, his student Samuel Park won
the FSMTA Young Artist String Competition and succeeded to win the
second prize at the MTNA National Finals. This coming November, he is
scheduled to perform the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Pensacola
Symphony.

Born on November 24,
1948 in New York and raised in South Florida Dr. Rene Gonzalez is
currently Director of Guitar Program at the University of Miami, Frost
School of Music where he completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts under
the tutelage of Maestro Juan Mercadal. As a pedagogue, Dr. Gonzalez is
recognized throughout the United States for his workshops and clinics on
classroom guitar teaching. His text the “Advancing Guitarist”, published
by Ellis Family Music, is used throughout the U.S. in public and private
schools.
As a performer he has
performed in solo, chamber and concerto concerts in the U.S., Central
America, Puerto Rico, Mexico,Eastern Europe and Italy. He has performed
with the Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra, the Augusta Symphony, Orquesta de
Cámara Independencia (Costa Rica), the Bergonzi String Quartet, Juan
Mercadal and Victoria de Los Angeles. Rene Gonzalez has conducted
master classes and served on competition juries at major guitar
festivals.
His CD “The Hummingbird” was released in the year 2000 on EFM label.
